When and where does the race take place?
Saturday, February 27, 2021. The race course begins at Lee College in Baytown, Texas. At 6:30 a.m. 1/2 Marathon walkers and Ruck 293 can start. At 7:00 a.m. 1/2 Marathon runners will start. 7:15 a.m. - all 5K participants will start.

Where will packet pick-up and In Person Registration take place?
Early Packet Pickup:
Friday, Feb 19th, 4:00-7:00p.m., Saturday, Feb 20th, 10:00-1:00 p.m. at Chick-fil-A Baytown - 5006 Garth Rd., Baytown, TX 77521. NIGHT BEFORE the Race: Friday, Feb. 26th 3:00-5:30 p.m. Lee College - 200 Lee Drive, Baytown, TX 77520 Race Morning:Saturday Feb. 27th 5:30 - 7:00 a.m. at LEE COLLEGE - 200 Lee Drive, Baytown, TX 77520. If picking up on the day of race, please budget some extra time.

Can I pick up someone else's packet?
Yes. All you need is their name and date of birth.

I am out of town, can you mail my race packet?
No. The race packet is available only at packet pick-up, either the week before the race or on the morning of the race. If you need to pick up your packet on race day, please budget some extra time before the race to do so.

If I am registered for the Half Marathon, can I just run the 5k instead?
Each race is limited in participants. 1/2 Marathon runners who run the 5K will not receive a medal or be eligible for awards. But, you still get ChickFila at the end!

Can I transfer my entry to someone else?
No. There are absolutely no transfers allowed. PLEASE NOTE that there is an immediate disqualification for anyone running under another person's bib.

Can a person run/walk the event without registering?
No. We take great pride in the details that allow you to run this event safely. Your registration pays for those things. We have more than 30 police-operated checkpoints on the route. Anyone running without a bib ("Bandits") will be removed from the course and suspended from future events for a minimum of two years.

When does the race start and end?
The Half-Marathon walkers and Ruck293 particpants start at 6:30 a.m., followed by Half-Marathon runners at 7:00 a.m. The 5k begins at 7:15 a.m. The course closes at 11:00 a.m.; if you are still on the course at that time, please move to the sidewalks.

Are there water stations?
Yes. Water stations are located every 2 miles on the course. They include enthusiastic volunteers with water, Gatorade, Vaseline, Kleenex, and port-a-cans.

How long are the courses?
The 1/2 Marathon and Ruck is 13.1 miles. The 5K is 3.1 miles.

How will I be timed?
The 1/2 marathon & 5K run uses an electronic timing system that records race time and place via a timing tag that will be attached to your bib. There will be a clock at the finish line to view your time.

When and where do I pick up the tag for the 1/2 Marathon & 5K?
The timing tag will be provided to participants when you pickup your race packet. The tag is attached to the back of the bib & can be discarded after the event.

How will I receive my results?
Some results are posted during the race, before awards. Official results are posted on the Web site on race day, usually around 5:00 p.m.

Can I use my own race chip or tag rather than utilizing the one that is provided?
No, for this year's race, we are not equipped to utilize individuals’ personal chips or tags.

What if there is a problem with my time on the date of the race?
The Jail Break Run, like most races, hires an independent company to time the runners. We do our best to get experienced, reputable, companies to time our runners - and, in the past, have replaced companies that do not live up to our standards. But, when there are hundreds of runners, there will always be a small number of problems. If you have a problem, speak with the timer on-site or email marc@jailbreakrun.org and we will forward your concerns to the timer.

Who gets a T-shirt?
Only paying participants in the event get t-shirts. The 1/2 Marathon and 5K participants receive technical performance event shirts.

What if I need help along the way?
A top-notch team of emergency medical professionals provides assistance along the race course. Mobile care and communications units will be located at the start and finish lines, as well as, on the course.

Can I participate in the event with my dog or baby stroller, or can my child bring their scooters/skateboards?
Sorry, as much as we like pets and children, the safety of participants is our main concern. Therefore, we do not allow pets, baby strollers, skateboards or scooters on the course. Of course, service animals and wheelchairs are allowed.

What do I do with my personal items while I’m running?
You can leave your items at a drop-off station, located near the start line. Look for the "Drop-off" sign near the registration booth.

What will the temperatures be like?
This is Texas, so we have NO clue what the weather will be like that day. Past race temperature ranges from the low 40's to low 80's. Be ready for anything!.

How do I register?
You may register online here. You may also complete and mail an entry form along with your registration check or money order. Race day registration, subject to availability, and packet pickup begin on race day at 5:30 a.m.

Can I participate in the RUCK293 if I sign up for the Half-Marathon?
No. Only registered participants are allowed to participate in the ruck. Checkpoints are in place to ensure this policy.

Can I register someone else for the race at one of the registration locations?
Yes. You will need a fully completed and signed race application form from them, along with their appropriate race fees.

I will be out of town on race day and not able to participate. Can I get my money returned?
We appreciate your race registration. As the race brochure states, we are unable to issue refunds. You can consider the entry fee as a donation and write it off. Or, you can switch to a virtual racer and still receive a finisher's medal and shirt. Email – marc@jailbreakrun.org to switch your registration over at least 7 days before race day.

Will the race be held if it's raining?
The Jail Break Run is a "rain or shine" event. However, if weather conditions threaten the safety of participants, the races would be cancelled. All Jail Break Run participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather, such as in a rain coat or hat. Umbrellas can pose a safety hazard to others. If we have to cancel the event due to weather conditions, no refunds will be available. In that unlikely event, we will extend the deadline for virtual racers to complete and return the results.

What will be provided after the race?
Awards ceremony for the 1/2 Marathon and 5K finishers andRefreshments (including Chick-fil-A Baytown sandwiches) are available for all participants. Each finisher receives a finishers medal. (1/2 Marathon and 5K medals are the same design, but different sizes)

Can you make trains stop during the race?
Be aware that this course crosses railroad tracks. Unfortunately, we do not have the power to stop trains during the race. We do our best to ensure that runners can get past the first rail road crossing. We use a train spotter that is down the track and ensures that we are clear to start. If a train is coming the start time will be delayed. Once the race begins, runners should not cross into an intersection when cross bars are down. In the event that a runner is caught "jumping" a train, they will be disqualified from all awards.
